Convert a bank statement to Excel
Forward the e-mail containing the PDF statement to Reconcil8: the transaction table — date, description, debit, credit, balance — comes back in the same thread, with an Excel export. The columns are identical from month to month and from bank to bank: your statements stack up in a single workbook instead of contradicting each other.

The manual methods, and where they break
Copy-paste from the PDF
Free and immediate — until columns merge, wrapped descriptions create phantom rows and page balances throw off the total. Redoing the formatting takes longer than retyping.
Retyping by hand
Reliable line by line, but 3 to 5 minutes per page — and the error rate climbs with fatigue. On twelve statements a month, that is a recurring half-day.
A generic PDF converter
It produces a table — a different one for every statement. Columns change from one document to the next, and everything is harmonised by hand afterwards. The work has not disappeared, it has moved.

Every amount keeps a confidence level and stays linked to its position in the PDF: you only review what is flagged.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I convert a PDF bank statement to Excel?
- Forward the e-mail containing the statement (or the PDF as an attachment) to essai@reconcil8.com: the transaction table — date, description, debit, credit, balance — comes back in the same thread with an Excel export. The first document can be tried without an account; 20 free documents when you sign up, no card required.
- Why not just copy-paste the PDF into Excel?
- Because pasting breaks the columns: dates, descriptions and amounts arrive jumbled, wrapped descriptions create phantom rows, and running balances throw off the totals. It works for ten lines, not for twelve statements a month.
- Does the output format change from one bank to another?
- No — that is the whole point: whatever the bank, transactions come out in the same column schema (date, description, debit, credit, balance), stable from month to month. Your exports stack up in a single workbook.
- How much does it cost?
- From €9/month (40 documents included); credit packs from €0.15 down to €0.10 per document, with no expiry. A typical statement = 1 credit.
- Is my banking data safe?
- Processing is documented on the app’s privacy page (app.reconcil8.com/privacy): limited retention, no use for model training, deletion on request.
